Course Objectives
Greetings from the 12th CTO Club
CTOs are the most technically difficult category of lesions within PCI and they are associated with high rates of restenosis and re-occlusion. For these reasons, CTOs have a long history of being avoided overseas. With the advent of DES, restenosis, which was the biggest problem of PCI, has become more predictable and CTO intervention has been gaining more attention worldwide.
After DES, new devices for CTOs along with the newest information and techniques such as parallel wiring, use of IVUS guidance, the retrograde approach, etc., have originated from Japan, a CTO-PCI advanced nation, on a regular basis thus making it possible to increase initial success rates further. This meeting was established eleven years ago in order to focus on educational programs for CTO-PCI and we are very proud of the role this meeting has played in CTO intervention. We can understand the effect this meeting has had by looking at the CTO-PCI being practiced around the world. However, there are still many operator-dependent factors involved in CTO-PCI.
The 12th CTO Club will aim at the standardization of CTO-PCI. We have prepared a very diverse program with live demos, workshops, cocktail night, etc., and with experts from home and abroad, we have added a very high level CTO-PCI debate also focusing on the education of those doctors who will soon take on CTO-PCI. It is our wish to have a meeting that will satisfy all those involved in CTO-PCI.
