"Safety, and 100% success rate"
While Japan is still reeling from the unprecedented natural disasters that befell us on March 11th, thanks to great support from many countries we are beginning to get back on our feet. We are pleased to announce that we have decided to hold the 13th CTO Club in June, 2012.
Since PCI of CTO is an elective PCI procedure, safety must be guaranteed for the patient. And while for clinicians, it is our most important, most critical issue, it is not enough.
If we fail at successful revascularization of CTO, the patient gains no benefit whatsoever: no symptom relief, improved LV function or better long term outcome. It ends up being nothing more than a waste of time, waste of a device, and an unrewarded additional burden for the patient. Therefore, successful revascularization must be recognized alongside safety as a top priority for PCI of CTO.
Admittedly, there are some controversial methodologies in terms of these procedures. Nevertheless, once we decide to treat the CTO patient, we owe that patient our commitment to provide our utmost efforts to achieve both procedural success and freedom from major complications. Unfortunately there still remains much to be learned. Since unsuccessful and complicated cases may act as reliable textbooks to guide us toward our ultimate destination of "safety, and 100% success rate," we would like to devote discussion to these kinds of cases as well as 2 days of interactive live demonstrations at the 13th CTO Club in 2012.
Also, to make access more convenient for attendees, the venue will be located very close to Nagoya station from next year forward.
We are all very much looking forward to seeing you again in Nagoya next June!
